The next event on the UKWA’s busy Year of Warehousing schedule is a Golf Challenge, to be held in support of Tempus Novo, an award-winning charity committed to supporting the rehabilitation of former offenders through sustainable employment.
UKWA CEO Clare Bottle comments, “UKWA is proud to support Tempus Novo, whose team has worked closely with our members to transform the lives of ex- offenders. By helping find employment and opportunity in warehousing for people who would otherwise struggle, Tempus Novo has shown us that we can embrace diversity and inclusion, effectively extending the potential recruitment pool at a time when our sector faces severe labour shortages – and in this special Year of Warehousing, contribute more to the community we serve.”
Described by Guy Opperman MP, former Minister for Employment, as ‘World leading in their approach to rehabilitation’, Tempus Novo founders Steve Freer and Val Wawrosz will be guest speakers at the event. Previously prison officers and now recognised as influential leaders in prison reform, they will share their inspiring, sometimes hair-raising and often laugh-out-loud experiences of changing lives.
The UKWA Year of Warehousing Golf Challenge will be held on Thursday 19 September at Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort. The Challenge is open to golfers of all abilities, as individuals or teams of four, and will include an 18-hole Stableford competition, with prizes for best team and individual scores, longest drive and nearest the pin. The day will start with breakfast rolls, pastries and refreshments on arrival, finishing with an excellent dinner and unique entertainment.
Clare concludes, “This is the first Golf Challenge hosted by UKWA in a while and is back by popular demand – the venue is superb, and we’re looking forward to welcoming friends and colleagues. This is a great opportunity to relax in beautiful surroundings, enjoy some friendly competition and help build our community!”
