James Sherwood has taken home a prestigious national award for his outstanding leadership as a Warehouse Department Manager at Asda, consistently going above and beyond to support his colleagues. James won The Extra Mile Award at this year’s Generation Logistics Awards, which celebrates an early talent colleague who has gone above and beyond to have a positive impact. The awards are organised by Generation Logistics, a sector led careers awareness campaign designed to shine a light on the people powering logistics and encourage young people to explore careers in the sector.
James’ work has been recognised at the 2026 Generation Logistics Awards, a national award celebrating talented individuals who are helping to shape the future of logistics.
Alongside his demanding role as Warehouse Department Manager, James actively inspires future talent through careers fairs, school visits and Generation Logistics activities, passing on his passion for the industry by showcasing opportunities and career pathways within the logistics industry and encourage new recruits to join the industry.
Our judges said: “James combines operational excellence with a genuine passion for inspiring future talent. His sustained school and careers engagement directly supports Generation Logistics and shows leadership, advocacy and personal commitment. He had the strongest overall evidence, subject to early-talent eligibility being confirmed.”
Bethany Windsor, Programme Director at Generation Logistics, added:
“As the logistics sector continues to evolve, stories like James’s demonstrate how early-career professionals are making a real difference – not just in how goods move but in how people thrive within the sector.
