Belfast Opts for Moveable Port Storage

Belfast Opts for Moveable Port Storage

Rubb Building Systems has designed, manufactured and constructed a new port storage structure at Belfast Harbour.

This will be the fourth framed fabric clad building the company has delivered to the Northern Irish harbour which is a maritime gateway and logistics hub.

Rubb harbour structures provide large, clearspan internal spaces that are illuminated by natural light to create a safe, efficient working environment.

The relocatable buildings offer flexible storage warehouse solutions as they can be easily and quickly reconfigured to suit the changing requirements of a busy port.

McMillan Construction worked with the company to install the 32.5m wide by 76.5m long port structure at Belfast Harbour.

The building features 6.75m high sidewalls, with outside tapered column legs, which ensure all internal walls have a straight vertical face.

A roller shutter door was installed in one sidewall of the building; this means personnel can access the building via three pedestrian doors. The facility was constructed in less than three months and will be used for the storage of steel and other materials.

The PVC membrane cladding on Rubb port warehousing structures will not corrode in a marine environment and Rubb fabric structures can be custom designed to support a variety of bulk handling methods.
