Whistl, the UK’s leading logistics company, specialising in fulfilment, contact centres, mail and parcel delivery management, has announced the expansion of its Parcelhub brand into the West Midlands. To meet the demand uncovered in the area, the company decided to open a new depot.
“Due to the demand from customers in the West Midlands for our localised Parcelhub service, we are pleased to open the new 14,000 sq. ft. depot in Smethwick. We will be serving the area with our new electric vans which will further enhance our ability to help customers meet their sustainability targets,” said Alistair Cochrane, CEO Whistl.
Located just off the M5 in Smethwick, near West Bromwich, the new depot will offer SME’s, mid-market online retailers and brands in the West Midlands a more regional and personalised service. Customers will therefore benefit from local collections and consolidation of their parcel volume through one point of contact rather than multiple carriers, as well as attractive carrier rates which have been secured for both Parcelhub and Whistl Parcels customers.
Moreover, customers will be served by Parcelhub’s recently announced electric van fleet with electric charging infrastructure installed into the depot as part of the fit out of the site. With the opening of the new depot, Whistl has created 14 jobs for local people in sectors such as depot management, collections drivers and warehouse operators. As announced by Parcelhub, more opportunities are due to come to West Midlands.
Parcelhub now covers both East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire, East London and Essex and will look to support e-commerce businesses in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton from the new depot.
