Whistl, the UK’s leading logistics company, specialising in fulfilment, contact centres, mail and parcel delivery management, has announced that its Parcelhub service will be expanding in Leeds with the opening of a new depot. Aiming to keep up with demand in the local area, the company will provide further parcel consolidation and multi-carrier solutions from west Yorkshire based e-commerce retailers.
Located on the Confederation Park, Lowfields Road, the 11,000 sq ft depot can be easily accessed via the M621 and joins Parcelhub’s other Yorkshire based depot located near Sheffield. The site will initially be operated by 13 employees, of which ten are already working with the company. As the site grows, the company believes the operations will generate more job opportunities, which will include supervisors, collection drivers and warehouse operators.
The expansion has also led to further investment in electric vehicle charging points to fit in with Parcelhub’s new Maxus eDeliver 9 electric vans.
“We are delighted to be expanding our ability to provide ecommerce retailers in West Yorkshire with a personalised service and local collections and consolidation of their parcel volume through one point of contact. These customers will now benefit from our attractive carrier rates which have been secured due to our size and scale,” commented Steve Marjoram, Managing Director of Parcelhub.
Besides its latest Leeds depot, Whistl has opened several Parcelhub branded depots in recent years with the latest in September in Smethwick, West Bromwich. Other sites cover the East and West Midlands, East London and Essex. In total, the delivery management company has a revenue of more than £820 million, providing services such as mail, parcels, leaflet advertising, fulfilment and contact centre services in the UK and internationally. Headquartered in Marlow, the Whistl group of companies operate across the UK, and handles in excess of 3.6 billion items a year.
