Parcelhub Makes Investment in Electric Vans

Parcelhub, the UK’s leading multi-carrier management solution that was acquired by Whistl, has announced an investment in electric vans. As part of this commitment, Parcelhub will be investing £450,000 in the rollout of electric vehicles within its regional depot network.

“We understand that we have an important role in reducing our impact on the environment in the areas in which we operate. Through this investment we will not only lower our C02 emissions but also those of our customers as we all try and play our part in becoming sustainable,” said Steve Marjoram, Parcelhub Managing Director.

At its sites in Nottingham and Dinnington, Parcelhub has already put in operation several electric vans, with more to follow over the coming months. All sites will see the rollout of fully electric vans added to its fleet once the electric charging infrastructure is expanded across its network to facilitate the launch.

The vans that will complement the current fleet have already been agreed to and nine Maxus eDeliver electric vehicles will be the ones undertaking on-site local collections for its customers, typically SME and mid-market online retailers and brands.

Since being acquired by Whistl, Parcelhub has gone through a few changes, extending its coverage and sites throughout the East and West Midlands, South Yorkshire, East London and Essex. Its brand aligning has also been changed to fit better within the group’s overall look and feel.

Parcelhub distributes more than six million parcels on its own carrier contracts every year to both B2C and B2B customers. It also offers customers a free integrated software, enabling them to acquire shipping rates based on the shared, co-operative volumes of all other shippers using the solution. Some of its carrier partners include Yodel, DPD, UK Mail, DHL, and ArowXL.

The Parcelhub brand focuses on SME and mid-market online retailers and brands with a more regionalised approach and personalised service with onsite local collections and consolidated volumes. Meanwhile, Whistl Parcels focuses on large organisations and core strategic customers using the company’s national network.
