DPD to launch new EcoLab to cut carbon emissions

DPD is looking to cut carbon emissions in transport, delivery and buildings with the help of its first EcoLab, which will work with innovative companies with sustainable solutions. The parcels giant is partnering with innovation specialist L Marks in the EcoLab.

The two companies are calling for applications from candidates wishing to participate in the EcoLab which aims to tackle three challenges. These include the further decarbonisation of DPDgroup’s fleet of 1,000 HGVs, through alternative fuel and EV solutions, and the reduction of its collection and delivery emissions via EV charging stations and alternative electric vehicle solutions. DPD currently operates a fleet of 3,000 EVs.

In addition, DPD wants to cut carbon emissions from its 100 buildings, using innovations that can be retrofitted into its current depots and installed in any future depots. The group is also looking to design and build depots in the most sustainable way possible.

L Marks will help scout for candidates for the EcoLab programme, which will run for 10 weeks, during which participants will have the opportunity to validate their solutions, as well as have access to DPD’s network and resources, and mentorship from industry experts.
