Bibby Distribution Services has been chosen by the Plastics company Nampak Plastics Europe to work as a third party logistics company in order to provide the company with a transport solution. The solution was required in order to move Nampak’s High Density Polyethylene packaging. Bibby Distribution was chosen for this transport contract because of their ability to add value to their service while also cut down the carbon emissions emitted by the Distribution Service by using their flexible national network of vehicles.
The Logistics company, Bibby Distribution is one of the top ten in the UK and works from around 90 different locations throughout the UK. The distribution business manages to employ 2,000 people in order to carry out their contracts and is in management of two million square feet of warehousing space. While working with Nampack, Bibby will be providing third party logistics services and fourth party logistics services by managing the plastic manufacturer’s sub-contractors that carry out Nampak’s deliveries to the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands.
Arnold Mitterer, the Managing Director of Nampak Plastics, has said that the company was looking at different solutions which would allow them to transport their low weight and low cost products in high volumes. Because of the high volume of the product that they produced has a high transport cost incurred, but Nampak has been able to make the most of the flexibility and size of Bibby’s distribution network. The network that is provided by Bibby adds more value on to their transporting solution.
Nampak will also be making the most of the high standard of delivery information that can be offered by Bibby Distribution, such as a telematics system which encompasses the entire fleet. This telematics system will allow all orders to be traced in order to look for any areas where improvements can be made. An electronic proof of delivery system introduced as part of the contract in order to make create effective paperless management.
