Logistics Centre Converted Into Warehouse Space

Stiller Warehousing and Distribution, a logistics business based in the county of Durham, has decided to invest in additional warehouse space by converting its old logistics centre into modern warehousing. The company currently operates from its newly opened £2 million freight distribution centre and office block at its 22-acre base on Aycliffe Business Park.

The project will bring the old building up to 21st-century standards, with the installation of resin screed, recladding and LED lighting.

Previously, Stiller spent £1.1 million in 2015 on a new 40,000 sq ft warehouse building, while in 2017 it expanded that facility with a 40,000 sq ft extension. Moreover, in November last year, the firm announced a £1.7 million investment in a fleet of 20 new vehicles.

“It’s a full top-to-tail refurbishment to bring the building up to the highest spec possible, and which is very much part of our long-term investment plan and growth strategy. We’ve seen an unprecedented rise in the demand for storage space over the last year and we’re expanding to meet that demand. The new warehouse is almost completed, and we’re already starting to fill the space up, which is very encouraging,” said Managing director Matthew Stiller.

Local business Scott and Scott is providing the cladding and racking for the new warehouse, while Newton Aycliffe-based Kolorspray has been tasked with repainting the interiors.
