Krone Opened a New Distribution Centre

Krone Commercial Vehicle Group has responded to the customer demand for parts requirements in the commercial vehicle sector and started its operations at a new logistics centre. The groundbreaking distribution centre is located in Herzlake and it covers a total area of 38,000 square metres, which received an investment of €8.5 million.

The 8,400 square metres storage area is spread across 12 stories and it can hold 17,500 pallets and 16,000 containers. Approximately 40 employees pick more than 23,000 orders for fast despatch every month, with all parts either despatched overnight or within a predetermined time-frame.

The centre also supplies key regional Krone depots in Budapest, Istanbul, Lyon, Scandinavia, and the Baltic region with parts for box semi trailers, container chassis, CEP vehicles for courier express services, in-house Krone trailer axles, semi trailers, superstructures, and trailers.

“With the launch of our spare parts centre, we continue to build on our service offering for our customers throughout Europe while at the same time sharpening our competitive edge in the spare parts business. The development of this important service is a central component of our strategy for the future,” said Bernard Krone, Managing Director of the Krone Group.

The Krone family business is among the market leaders in commercial vehicle and agricultural machinery production. Its product portfolio in the commercial vehicle division includes curtainsider semi trailers, temperature-controlled semi trailers, dry freight semi trailers, container chassis, swap systems, general trailers, motor vehicle superstructures, and CEP vehicles for parcel services.

In five decades, the Krone Group’s annual sales volume has increased from approximately €8.5 million to nearly €1.9 billion today, with its main revenue generator being the commercial vehicle. It employs 4,500 personnel worldwide and it has manufactured around 52,000 vehicle units. By country, Germany is the strongest sales market at 27.2%, with Western European countries accounting for 43.8% combined and Eastern European countries for 21.6%.
