Suffolk-based Kersey Freight, which is headquartered at Hadleigh, has invested more than 1 million in creating a northern depot in East Yorkshire. The firm established the depot on Ozone Business Park in Howden after purchasing land from property developer – the Horncastle Group plc. Ozone Business Park was chosen due to its close links to major road networks, which enable Kersey Freight’s fleet easy access to the M62, M18, A1 and M1.

“As the business has grown and become more successful, we wanted to create a base in the north to better serve our customers, but also one that would be close to the ports in Hull and Goole, the main motorway networks and other cities across the region,” said David Crawford, owner of Kersey Freight.

“Ozone was the ideal location as it ticked all of those boxes, so it was an easy decision. We worked with Horncastle to secure planning for the land and set about establishing our depot. Now we run a fleet of lorries from Howden, which operate across the Yorkshire and the north of England,” he added.

Ozone Business Park is a 32-acre site based on the A614 and is part of the Goole/Howden employment hub.

“Right from the start we developed Ozone Business Park as a logistics hub because of its location,” commented Ian Hodges, managing director of the Horncastle Group. “We knew it would attract companies that needed easy access to the road and port network for distribution throughout Yorkshire.”

“That has proved to be the case with the park attracting some first-class logistics operators, as well as companies in a range of other industries including print and building product manufacture. We are delighted that Kersey Freight has now joined them and become part of Ozone Business Park’s ongoing success,” he concluded.
