Davis Turner has expanded their regional distribution centre located in Cumbernauld. As part of this expansion project it is thought that Davies Turner will become more popular. The freight forwarding and logistics service provider has managed to create an extra 20,000 sq.ft. of warehousing at their Cumbernauld site.
The UK leading independent freight forwarding company has managed to create a great deal of more warehousing space featuring 10 m high eaves. This expansion has double the capacity that Davies Turner had on the site and has allowed business to add two more floor loading doors and five powered dock-levellers. The expansion has laos allowed for an increase in the amount of racking that is fitted in the warehouses.
The hub at Cumbernauld has the capacity for 3,500 pallet spaces also has more space to be used for cargo handling and sortation. The site also features a 1.5 acre secure service yard with a clear span canopy that is used to protect the loading area from the weather. As well as the offices, the Davies Turner Cumbernauld facility has more than 43,000 sq ft of space as well as a gated yard that is made secure with palisade fencing, security alarms and CCTV protection.
Davies Turner has a range of strategically placed RDCs that are located across the UK and Ireland. Including Cumbernauld there are also hubs in Birmingham, Bristol, Dartford, Dublin, London Heathrow and Manchester. All of these hubs are connected through the use of overnight feeder services and another 14 satellite branches that are used in order to support the company’s network.
The company’s Cumbernauld location is well placed in the Central Belt in between Glasgow and Edinburgh and has access to some of the best road networks in the UK. Davies Turner moved into larger facilities ten years ago in order to show their commitment to the Scottish market. Now the extension further reinforces the company’s commitment to the Scottish market and to Scottish exporters and importers . The company also plan to expand their facilities at Glasgow airport.
