The logistics company Menzies Distribution has secured a new contract with Nisbets, the largest supplier of catering equipment in the UK. Menzies will be tasked with managing the weekly supplies of goods from Nisbet’s national distribution centre located in Avonmouth near Bristol. The goods will then be transported to the company’s 22 stores that are located around the UK.

Menzies has been operating since 1833, and focuses on time-critical logistics and delivery. Menzies works around the clock in order to deliver an efficient and cost effective service. The company has a network of warehouses and hubs with a working fleet of 1,900 vehicles and employs 3,500 staff.

The contract with Nisbet will be an excellent way to combine their trunk and local operations in order to support Menzies customers’ supply chains. It is hoped that the relationship between the businesses can expand and lead to other opportunities as well as demonstrate their abilities to potential new clients.

Menzies are able to offer a reliable and cost-effective service around the country. This means that Nisbet can work alongside the logistics operator as a consolidator which is more efficient for Nisbet than their own dedicated vehicles to carry out their operations.

The products from Nisbet will be trunked at their Avonmouth depot and will go to Menzies’ depot network in pallets and cages which will then be transferred to local vehicles as part of the final mile delivery. Menzies has been working with Nisbets for the past several months however he formal agreement was yet to be sorted until last week.

This news is on top of the announcement from December in which Menzies announced that it secured a three-year national logistics contract that will provide trunk services from three WHSmith Distribution Centres to Menzies own depot network before carrying out their final mile delivery which will go to over 1200 stores nationwide.
