B&B Attachments Deliver Solution to UK Brewery

B&B Attachments, the UK’s leading supplier of forklift attachments, has supplied Sharp’s Brewery with three KAUP Keg Clamp attachments. They were fitted to Toyota forklift trucks and will support the brewer’s expansion plans of its production capacity.

The Keg Clamp attachment provides a secure grip of kegs and casks that ensures ease of movement of both full and empty barrels around the yard and production facility. It also allows for up to 18 barrels to be handled in a single lift and provides the driver with excellent visibility when approaching the load, while increasing driver confidence and ensuring safe and secure handling on site.

Sharp’s Brewery required a productive solution that could help with the handling of the wide number of kegs and casks and they chose Keg Clamp because it is the ultimate solution for improving productivity. The attachment’s features include wear indicators on tines, end of stroke cushioning on side shift movements, long lasting rubber pad, and solenoid valve. Its increased overlaps between arm carrier and frame make it durable and robust, while the rubber insert grips prevent slippage or loss of irregular kegs from the stack.

“These attachments are used every day, enabling fast and reliable loading, unloading and end of line support. They also ensure that we are handling our products in the safest most productive way possible with reduced labour time,” said Christian Fitzpatrick, Warehouse Manager at Sharp’s Brewery.

Founded in 1994 in Rock, Cornwall, by Bill Sharp, Sharp’s Brewery is a British regional brewery company that produces 1.5 million pints a weeks and is best known for its flagship ale Doom Bar. Doom Bar has become the most popular cask bar in Britain, measured by value of sales. In 2011, Sharp went under the ownership of the American beer company Molson Coors and its sales rose by 22% in the first year. Over the past seven years, the brewery has increased its staff number from 70 to 148 and its distribution counts more than 7,000 pubs across the UK.
