DuPont Protection Solutions, the global leader in products and solutions to protect people, structures and the environment, have announced that they are adding to their sustainability and environmental commitment with a new recycling service. The announcement of this new service was made at the IQPC Global Forum in Chicago. The new service will mean that all Tyvek® customers will have access to a satisfactory end-of-life solution for their products.
The creation of this new courtesy recycling service has come about as a response to demand from shipping companies who have been looking for a dedicated recycling service that is convenient to use and also makes sure that the products are recycled in a way that is as environmentally responsible as possible.
The Tyvek® Cargo Covers external layer has been made of a 100% high density polyethylene (HDPE). This product can be mechanically recycled, but a lot of the time it ends up overlooked and in landfill, due to an oversight in business processing or because of a lack of processing facilities. This new recycling programme that has been set up by DuPont Protection Solutions has been provided to Tyvek® customers at no charge. Depending on volumes the used covers can be collected from the customer’s site or then dropped off at a local processing centre.
All of the Tyvek® Cargo Covers are included in this new recycling programme, even the fleece-lined Tyvek® Xtreme™ W50, the silver reflective Tyvek® Solar™ W20. The materials will be recycled into high-grade polymeric feedstock that can be used to be processed into brand-new, High-grade products such as low maintenance decking boards, long lasting street furniture and playground equipment.
The recycling service will be available throughout the US and a number of other key global markets. There is a new Cargo Cover recycling service guidance document available online on DuPont.
