Eric Wright continues electric expansion

Preston-based property and construction company Eric Wright Group has officially handed over its 100th electric fleet vehicle. The Cupra Born car was presented to the group’s new bid writer Prabjeet Kaur who joined the civil engineering arm of the business earlier last month.

Kaur was handed the keys to the vehicle from group fleet and transport manager Steve Openshaw at Sceptre House, the company’s head office in Bamber Bridge.

“It’s a landmark moment for us to have 100 electric vehicles in the fleet and it’s lovely to present it to our newest member of staff, Prabjeet. This marks the moment we also exceed the halfway mark for the group’s car fleet being fully electric. Over 250,000 electric miles have been driven between January and August 2022, which has significantly contributed to the group’s overall carbon reduction targets,” said Openshaw.

Eric Wright Group’s current fleet is 76 per cent ULEV (Ultra Low Emission Vehicles) while 50 per cent are now fully electric. The company was aiming to have 60 per cent of its leased car fleet as hybrid, plug-in hybrid or pure electric by 2025 but is now set to meet that deadline in 2023.

“This is the first time I have had an electric vehicle and I’m delighted to be able to drive it in my new role. The provision of local charging points has increased rapidly in recent years and we now have twenty at Sceptre House and thirty at our sites across the north west region. I’m confident that it will be a smooth transition to driving an electric vehicle and that it will have a significant impact on the business’s carbon reduction plans,” added Prabjeet Kaur.
