Custom Denning Accelerates UK Market Expansion: Antony Goozee named CEO Europe as the Australian electric bus pioneer strengthens its commitment to the UK’s zero-emission transport transition
Custom Denning, the iconic Australian bus manufacturer with a heritage stretching back to 1955, today announced a significant expansion of its European operations and the appointment of Antony Goozee as Chief Executive Officer, Europe, effective 1 July 2026. The appointment marks a pivotal milestone in Custom Denning’s strategic push to establish the company’s Element electric bus range as a leading choice for UK and European operators navigating the transition to zero-emission fleets.
The Department for Transport’s 10-Year Zero Emission Bus Order Pipeline, published in March 2026, projects demand for up to 21,500 new zero emission buses across the UK between 2026 and 2035 — providing manufacturers, operators and investors with clear, long term visibility of the scale of fleet transformation ahead. Custom Denning is positioning itself to meet this demand with high-quality, competitively priced electric buses — with low-floor Element models available to UK operators today — backed by credible after sales and technical support. The Element range brings proven zero-emission technology to a market where reliability, whole-life cost and passenger capacity are paramount.
“The UK electric bus market is at an inflection point, and Custom Denning is ready to play a major role in shaping it. Antony brings exactly the depth of sector knowledge, operator relationships, and commercial acumen that this expansion demands. Whilst I have lived in Australia for the past 12 years, I am very proud to be British, and I take enormous satisfaction from seeing buses I helped design running on the streets of England. My ambition is to grow the UK business to a sustainable level and, in time, open a new manufacturing plant here in the UK. We are committed to the UK for the long term.”
— Scott Dunn, Managing Director, Custom Denning
A Strategic Appointment for a Critical Market
Antony Goozee brings 30 years of experience in the UK bus and coach sector, encompassing operational management, commercial strategy, fleet procurement, business development, and operator engagement. For the past eight years he has held senior positions at National Express, most recently serving as Managing Director of their UK bus business. The appointment reunites Antony with Custom Denning Managing Director Scott Dunn, the pair having previously worked together at Dunn-Line and brings a shared understanding of what operator’s need from a manufacturer partner. His appointment as CEO Europe will see him lead Custom Denning’s regional operations, build the company’s UK customer base, and oversee the continued rollout of the Element range to operators, local transport authorities, and procurement frameworks.
Commenting on his appointment, Antony Goozee said:
“Custom Denning has built something genuinely impressive in Australia — a bus that operators trust, backed by a manufacturer that understands the realities of running a fleet. My ambition is to replicate that reputation here in the UK and across Europe. The Element is a compelling product, and the timing, with the government’s 10-Year ZEB Order Pipeline signalling up to 21,500 new zero emission bus orders over the next decade, could not be better. I am excited to be leading this chapter of the company’s story.”
