Pink Link Ltd Help Raise Over £1million
The Pink Link Ltd’s Pedal 4 Pounds 5 bike ride has smashed its target and successfully raised an impressive ONE MILLION POUNDS for the ‘Keep It Up’ Campaign.
The Huddersfield based palletised distribution specialist has supported Huddersfield Town and its initiatives for the past nine years, and this year marked the fourth season The Pink Link Ltd has sponsored the Pedal 4 Pounds event.
With the help of 300 cyclists, local businesses and The Pink Link Ltd’s Sales and Commercial Director Vicki Davenport, the fifth annual fundraising bike ride has raised a massive one million pounds for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance and The Huddersfield Town Academy, which forms the ‘Keep It Up’ Campaign.
The gruelling course, which marked Vicki’s third Pedal 4 Pounds event, saw the cyclists ride from Arsenal to Huddersfield in just four days. The riders took part in a celebratory lap of honour around the Huddersfield Town pitch just before kick-off at the last home game of the season against Leicester City to a standing ovation. Amongst the crowd was Ken Chapman, nephew of the legendary manager, Herbert Chapman, whom this year’s Pedal 4 Pounds event was named after.
Over the past three Pedal 4 Pounds events Vicki has raised over £4000, and in 2012 Vicki’s tandem team, ‘The Tandemettes’, raised over £20,000 for the cause. Vicki commented: “As the main sponsor of the Pedal 4 Pounds 5 event The Pink Link Ltd is extremely proud and humbled to have reached the one million pounds mark. This significant amount shows the importance of firms and individuals coming together to raise vital funds for local charities which make a colossal difference in our area. Well done to all riders and sponsors involved!”
The Pink Link Ltd’s mission continues as the firm sustains its involvement with a number of local charities. In 2014 so far, Sue Ryder Care, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, The Huddersfield Town Academy and the Town Foundation have benefited from the firms fundraising efforts which amount to £184,141.21 in total, and which will continue to increase throughout the year.
