Runcorn-based logistics recruitment company Drivers Direct has raised £2,500 for charity Hampshire Spirit Horse Rescue, a charity that cares for abused and neglected horses.
Run entirely by volunteers, the charity works with the community to help teach younger members how to take care of the animals in a safe and productive way. Hampshire Spirit Horse Rescue is headquartered on a 10-acre farm; staff members’ responsibilities include feeding, dental care, medical checks, and shoeing, as well as giving the horses a happy life with fulfilling human interaction.
Danny Jellicoe, Managing Director at Drivers Direct, commented “At Drivers Direct, we know that small, local charities rely on donations to do the amazing work they do. Hampshire Spirit Horse Rescue is a wonderful charity that does essential work to allow these animals to have a happy and fulfilling life. Our team are all a bunch of animal-lovers, and they couldn’t be happier to provide their support!”
Sharon Lockey, Committee Member at Hampshire Spirit Horse Rescue adds “This donation will be hugely beneficial to us. The rescue has been up and running since the beginning of the year and we have to fundraise constantly to enable us to cover vet bills and running costs for the charity. The money will not only go towards a much needed field shelter we need at the rescue, it will also help towards one of our horses up and coming vet bill, that has already been estimated at over a thousand pounds.”
Established in 2002, Drivers Direct covers all driver classes, from chauffeurs and forklift driver’s right through to LGV Class 1 and 2 drivers and supplies more than 1,100 drivers a week to clients from across the public and private sectors. The company currently has a network of 22 branches across the UK.
