Aberdeen-based charities Archway and Friends of ANCHOR are set to benefit from the generosity of haulage firm ARR Craib Transport Ltd. The charities were selected by staff from ARR Craib Transport, which is based in the Granite City,  and will be supported by the firm over the next 12 months.

Friends of ANCHOR (Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy), is committed to funding research in to the causes of cancer and improving the treatment of patients with cancer. Archway is continually striving to improve the opportunities and quality of life for people with learning disabilities in Aberdeen and throughout the north-east area.

In addition to the partnership with Archway and Friends of ANCHOR, the haulage firm will also continue its support of the road safety charity Brake, through sponsorship of the organisation’s annual Road Safety Week initiative.

ARR Craib Transport chief executive officer Eddie Anderson explains, “The staff select the charities we support every year. For many members of staff these organisations are close to their hearts. The combination of the personal connection with the charities and the great work they do in the local community, made it a very easy decision for us to support them.

“We also wanted to continue our backing of Brake in addition to our other charitable activities. Brake does very worthwhile work campaigning for road safety and supporting victims of road accidents. As a transport and logistics company with a large fleet on the road, it is important for us to get behind the charity and contribute to making the roads safer.

“As we are headquartered in Aberdeen, we are keen to show our support to local charities and good causes. We strongly believe in using our position to benefit charities, both on a local and a national level. The team at ARR Craib is looking forward to supporting all three charities over the coming year,” explained Eddie.

The transport company is also heavily involved in the Wild Dolphins art project, which has seen 50 life-sized bottlenose dolphin sculptures positioned around Aberdeen city. ARR Craib was instrumental in the delivery of the project, transporting the precious cargo to each location.

The dolphins will remain in position until the end of August when the ARR Craib vehicles will be back to collect them before they are auctioned off with all the proceeds going to the Archie Foundation – a charity which provides support for children in hospital, and their families.

ARR Craib Transport Ltd provides transport and logistics services within the local, radial, UK and international transport markets.  The company operates more than 300 vehicles and 500 trailers controlled from bases and distribution hubs at Aberdeen, Cumbernauld, and Eaglescliffe, and employs around 400 people.
