DFDS Seaways Sails Into Top Position At World Travel Awards

DFDS Seaways has been awarded the prestigious accolade of ‘World’s Leading Ferry Operator’ at the 2014 World Travel Awards Gala in Anguilla, in the Caribbean (7 December) for the fourth year in a row.

The World Travel Awards, hailed as the premier awards programme for the travel and tourism industry, celebrates excellence throughout the global travel, tourism and hospitality sector. The winners are decided by votes from travel industry professionals, tour operators and consumers.

In addition to the  ‘World’s Leading Ferry Operator’ accolade, DFDS Seaways also received the title of ‘Europe’s Leading Ferry Operator’ at the European leg of the World Travel Awards held in August 2014. Together, these titles recognise DFDS Seaways’ commitment to excellence during the last twelve months and its dedication to providing flexible and convenient travel options for freight customers, as well as coach drivers and passengers.

Wayne Bullen, Freight Sales Director at DFDS Seaways on the Channel, comments: “It’s a real honour to be awarded ‘World’s Leading Ferry Operator’ for the fourth time. This prestigious award is testament to the hard work and commitment of our all staff, who work tirelessly to provide the very best travel experience for all our customers.

“Customer care is at the heart of everything we do, and receiving this award is a great endorsement from our customers and industry peers. Despite a number of challenges facing the shipping industry, including the upcoming sulphur directive, we believe that ferry travel continues to be one of the best and most cost effective ways to transport freight to and from the UK. We are looking forward to 2015 and will continue to strive to deliver the best service possible for all our customers.”

All DFDS Seaways vessels on the Dover routes are equipped with dedicated freight driver facilities. In addition to the Road Kings restaurants, DFDS Seaways also provides freight customers with showers, reclining chairs, complimentary tea and coffee and free wifi, to help drivers fully unwind onboard and continue their onward journey feeling refreshed.

DFDS Seaways carries both driver-accompanied vehicles, as well as unaccompanied trailers. It also uses the latest equipment to help detect clandestines at the Port of Dunkirk, providing drivers with peace-of-mind and ensuring that all vehicles travelling on its services are thoroughly checked.
