Two Large LNG Ships From The Stena Group Change To UK Flag
Stena LNG, a company in the Stena Group, has decided to move two large liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships to the UK register.
The Port of Registry for the ships, Stena Crystal Sky and Stena Clear Sky, will be Stranraer, close to Cairnryan where fellow Stena Group company, Stena Line, recently completed the construction of a new ferry port to a value of £200m. The two LNG ships now join many other ferries, tankers and offshore drill ships in the Stena Group that also carry the red ensign
Kim Ullman, CEO of Stena LNG, said: “Stena LNG is committed to maintaining its position as a world leader in quality, health, safety and environment management systems. In view of this combination of factors, the UK register is a stable and good haven for our ships”.
Dan Sten Olsson, CEO of the Stena Group, said: “A strong advantage for the UK register is the professionalism and focus on safety, built on long-term experience from the authorities. They also have the requisite understanding of today’s commercial realities and the growing competition to attract global shipping companies of Stena’s calibre to the register.”
Ship management responsibility for the vessels will be handled by Stena group´s technical management company, Northern Marine Management, based in Glasgow.
