IAG Cargo Published Q2 Results Last Week

IAG Cargo published their Q2 2017 results last week. The company has reportedly managed to generate a commercial revenue of €260 million during the second quarter of this year. This time period has been measures as between the 1st of April and the 30th of June. This revenue that has been generated in Q2 is a 7.6% increase on the same period in 2016, when measured at a constant exchange.

Overall it is thought that IAG Cargo’s total yield has seen an increase of 1.1% at a constant exchange. The volumes that have been recorded by the business have also seen an increase during this second quarter of 6.4%. In order to cope with the increase of volume, IAG Cargo has also reported a 5.9% increase in capacity.

IAG Cargo operates in the airfreight market, and this sector is known for being highly competitive. Therefore the increase of revenue, volume and capacity that has been recorded by IAG is great news. The performance of the company within this sector has been seen as solid and stable, as the airfreight market as a whole has seen improvements over the course of the first half of 2017. It is thought that the improvements that have taken place in the sector as a whole have been caused by the increase in cross border e-commerce, pharmaceutical shipments and improvements in regional performances in the Asia Pacific, Europe and similar markets.

IAG also launched their new loyalty programme in May. The FWD Rewards programme has been designed in order to meet the needs of a range of small and medium sized forwarders. The loyalty programme will hopefully keep customers after an initial transaction. Since the scheme was launched, IAG has already seen more than 500 forwarders join the scheme which allows the forwarders to earn points that can be collected and used to pay for cargo shipments, hotel stays or reward flights. Increasing the incentive of remaining with the same logistics provider for an extended period of time.
