Greg Clark the Government’s Business Secretary has visited the Tunbridge Wells HQ of the Freight Transport Association. The visit has been made to the largest membership association in the UK in order to celebrate their influence and the level of industry experience that has been developed over the years.

Mr. Clark, who is not only the Business Secretary but the MP for Tunbridge Wells too, visited the offices on the 17th November and in order to take part in celebrations to mark the organisation being based on the site at St Johns Road for more than forty years. It is thought that during his visit, the Conservative MP also held talks with the Chief Executive of the FTA, David Wells. During these discussions, the two talked about Brexit as well as a range of other key issues for the logistics industry.

Mr. Clark said at the event that having such a high-profile organisation based and at work within his constituency provides the area with a wealth of expertise and has been a valuable resource for him and his team. Mr. Clark went on to say that he has always felt that it was great to see such a prestigious national association based in Tunbridge Wells, and the work they do to represent the whole country is valued.

The Freight Transport Association represents more than 16,000 freight and logistics companies and its members work to move goods across the UK as well as around the rest of the world using the road, rail and sea. The association has over 220,000 commercial goods vehicles in operation, which is more than half of the UK fleet. Having such an extensive reach has helped the association to become experts and develop a wealth of Knowledge that is often used to deliver briefings for politicians and civil servants working in the UK and Europe in order to help to influence the UK’s trading arrangements.
