Closure of the Footpath at Filton Abbey Wood Station

Closure of the Footpath at Filton Abbey Wood Station

Network Rail issued a reminder about the closure of the footpath between the carpark and the platforms at Filton Abbey Wood station. The footpath was closed on Sunday 7th May and it is thought that the closure will run until Autumn of this year. The engineering team at Network Rail have closed the footpath in order to allow works to be safely carried out.

While the footpath is closed passengers that will be using the Filton Abbey Wood station are asked to follow the signed diversion route that will travel from the car park at Emma-Chris Way and along Nutfield Grove in order to join the footbridge to the platforms. This diversion will take passengers through the grounds of Nutfield House in order to get access from this car park on to the platforms.

Network Rail have predicted that to get from this car park to the platforms, passengers should add an extra 10 minutes on to their journey time in order to make sure they get to the platforms in enough time to reach their trains. Network Rail have also taken the time to thank passengers for their patience while they carry out this engineering work. The diversion will only affect the passengers that arrive at the Filton Abbey Wood station from the car park side.

There will also be cabins placed in the car park to accommodate the team that are carrying out the work which means that there will be a reduced number of car parking spaces available. The spaces that are reserved for drivers with disabilities will be relocated to other parts of the car park.

Due to other work to the Bristol Parkway and the Bristol Temple Meads there will be a rail replacement service operation out of Filton Abbey Wood from Saturday the 13th May at 23:45 to Monday 15th May at 04:45 as well as 23:45 on Saturday the 20th May to 0:45 on Monday 22nd May.
