Latest Developments of the State of the Railways Across Northern Regions

This weekend will see the latest developments in the 1 billion pound-plus plan to revitalize the state of the railways across the Northern regions of the United Kingdom, specifically the Preston-Blackpool line and interconnecting links in between that include Wigan to Manchester as well as Liverpool. The reparations are designed to electrify the railway networks to deliver much quicker and equally much more reliable transport services along those much-used railway lines.

To allow for these important repairs to take place so that the journeys of commuters in this region of the North of England will be able to access their destinations more quickly and easily, commuters will have to contend with some changes to railway timetables and destinations over the next 10 weekends. Replacement bus services will be in place to accommodate passengers affected by these changes to and from Preston and the North/South Blackpool stations.

However, passengers affected by this are cautioned to plan their journeys with extra care so that they do not miss the deadline times that they have to meet. In addition to the implementation of replacement bus service between the Preston and Blackpool stations, road vehicle drivers should be aware that the parking area by Poulton train station will be closed for a total of six weeks. This is also due to the works taking place to improve the conditions of the railway.

Ms Alison Rowley of Network Rail has expressed that the transport networker is collaborating strongly with Northern Railway in order to ensure that commuters are affected by the construction as little as possible over the next few weeks. She has also emphasized that the transport refurbishments are an unequivocal necessity that will benefit the journeys of all commuters and travelers between Preston and Blackpool North in the long term. If the work is completed on schedule, travelers on the services can expect the new electrified lines to be fully functional towards May 2017.
