Kiel Port Major Transporting Makeover as a Railway

Kiel Port Major Transporting Makeover as a Railway

The vital Adriatic port located in Kiel is set for a major new transporting makeover as a railway link will be designed in order to directly link the important locations of Kiel and Trieste together. Located in the popular Northern business sector of Italy and ideal holiday destination for tourists, Trieste is an important location that the port will greatly benefit from now that plans are being implemented to try and provide an all new and functioning rail network. In addition to this, Trieste is as Kiel an ideal area of embarkation to ship services and routes to places as varied as Scandinavia, Verona and even Turkey.

Logistically speaking, the train link will help to ease pressure off the port’s other transport networks and links, and it is hoped that queues and congestions of cargo will be saved by providing an alternative and faster route of travel for those requiring the services and organization of the port. It has been felt that the valuable contributions and implementations of these ambitious new plans could not have been possible without the collaboration of the EKOL Stena Line since the very genesis of the idea burst onto the port’s agenda.

With the release of the official train number one on the 25th of January, which had the ability to carry no less than 32 heavy units, Mister Dirk Claus is extremely satisfied that the plans have been put in place and that the line is open. With over 29,000 separate loaded carriers being deployed through Kiel, it is clear that the rail link will be extremely beneficial to the organization of the port and will hopefully ensure that services there are running better than ever so that the port can continue to prosper and harness its reputation in the rest of the porting world as a great port. The link is due to be beneficial for the transport sector as a whole.
