If you are a van operator committed to driver wellbeing, compliance, safety and innovation, make sure you enter your nominations for the 2019 Van Excellence Honours Awards, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Vans, for your chance to be recognised as an industry leader in your field of expertise.
To be held at a lunch at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Birmingham on 12 November 2019, the awards celebrate the van operators who have made a significant contribution to the van industry. The nominations are now open and close on 16 September 2019. The event is also sponsored by Bott, Brigade Electronics, Hertz, Lex Autolease and Quartix.
Mark Cartwright, Head of Vans and Light Commercial Vehicles at FTA, which administers the Van Excellence scheme, commented: “The Van Excellence Honours Awards are back this winter to celebrate the businesses and individuals leading the way in excellence and setting a high standard for others to follow. With the van market growing so fast, it is important to recognise and reward the operators that consistently place driver wellbeing, the community, safety, compliance and technological innovation at the heart of their operations.”
Mr Cartwright continued: “Van drivers play a vital role in the UK economy, from delivering home shopping to stocking hospitals with the medicines they need; it is high time they are recognised for this invaluable contribution. All van operators committed to excellence should enter these awards or nominate an esteemed peer, whether operating a large fleet or a single vehicle.”
With the exception of the ‘Van Hero of the Year’ award, which is open to all, the following categories are open to Van Excellence Accredited Operators only:
- Making a Difference
- Putting Drivers First
- Helping the Community
- Using Technology for Good
- Keeping your Show on the Road!
- Winning at Wellbeing

Administered by FTA, the leading organisation in UK logistics, Van Excellence was created in 2010 to promote the safe operation of vans, represent the interests of the sector, and celebrate operators demonstrating excellent standards. Central to the scheme is the Van Excellence Code, a set of minimum best practice standards all van operators should aspire to achieve, covering safety, efficiency and sustainability.
