Deadline Extended to Enter Van Driver of the Year 2022

Deadline Extended to Enter Van Driver of the Year 2022

Due to popular demand, Logistics UK has extended the deadline for submissions to its Van Driver of the Year contest to Friday 29 April 2022. This follows a surge of late enquiries and will give more companies the chance to enter their leading professional drivers into the competition.

Taking place on Wednesday 11 May 2022 alongside the free-to-attend ITT Hub at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre, the contest will celebrate the nation’s leading professional drivers, with prizes going to the overall Van Driver of the Year, the second and third place contestants, the Van Excellence Driver of the Year and individual category winners.

Sam Burton, winner of Van Driver of the Year 2021, comments: “I was delighted to be named as Logistics UK’s Van Driver of the Year 2021. It was a brilliant day; I loved my role as a van driver and am always keen to learn, so it was great to talk to so many talented and dedicated drivers that were also taking part. Winning was the most incredible feeling and having won the top prize of a holiday voucher, I used it to book myself a week away in Wales as I’m a huge mountain biker. I had a fantastic time and it was amazing to go away again after not being able to do so due to the pandemic.

“Winning Van Driver of the Year really is a career highlight, and I would like to thank Logistics UK for the opportunity, as well as my manager and Wayfair for their continued support. In the year since, I have attended multiple speeches and have also been promoted at work. I really would encourage anyone thinking about entering, to do so!”

Sponsored by Logistics UK’s Van Gold Partners – the AA, Bott Ltd, Brigade Electronics, Lex Autolease, Quartix, TVL and WTW, contestants will take part in a series of practical and theoretical challenges, with entrants being assessed on safe driving style, legislative knowledge, economical driving, manoeuvring, risk perception and pre-use vehicle defect checking.

Kevin Green, Marketing and Communications Director at Logistics UK comments: “The sector does a fantastic job of meeting the delivery, service and utility needs of the nation. And during such a busy period, we understand that not everyone who wants to enter has had the chance to do so yet. We are delighted to be extending the deadline for entries and supporting this vital sector by allowing more time to complete their entries. We have had a large number of excellent submissions so far and look forward to celebrating the nation’s very best drivers at the event in May.”
