TTS group & Ulstein Release New Crane Technology

TTS group & Ulstein Release New Crane Technology

A partnership has been formed between TTS Group and Ulstein. The companies have joined forces in
order to deliver cranes that have the capacity for 3D motion compensation. It is thought that the new
cranes that are being produced by TTS and Ulstein will be utilized in the offshore industries.
The working collaborating team has been formed between TTS and Ulstein because of a contract that
was issued for a TTS Colibri™ crane that is motion compensated. The crane was requested for an
offshore wind SOV project that is being carried out by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs. This new build wind SOV
project has been planned to go ahead for the second quarter of 2018. It is thought that the new crane
that is being supplied to the project will mix together the different competencies that are offered by TTS
and their expertise in crane design as well as making the most of Ulstein’s specialist knowledge of
cutting edge motion technology and analysis systems.
The TTS Colibri™ crane is a unique product within the market because of the Colibri™ system that has
been developed at the TTS Group and works as an add on device that can be installed on an offshore
crane. The system looks to make the crane more functional without compromising the off-shore
features of the established crane. But the technology as part of the Colibri™ system is the anti-sway
technology that is part of the device. It is this feature that is brand new and not found in any other
system and means that the crane will be able to reduce the impact of any wind based motions that
could have an impact on the crane’s load.
It is thought that the collaboration between TTS Group and Ulstein will allow both of the companies to
work together and create a product that is exceedingly commercially attractive. The technology that has
been developed is also even more appealing as there is the ability to install the device on to established
cranes which means that companies that are wanting to make the most of the new technology don’t
need to invest in and fit an entire new crane.
