Hope Launch Search For 30 HGV Drivers

Thirty HGV drivers are sought by Britain’s leading independent concrete and aggregates producer, Hope Construction Materials, to operate the company’s new fleet of Renault trucks.

Hope, who celebrated their second anniversary in January 2015, are expanding their fleet of ready-mixed concrete mixer trucks and aggregate tipper wagons, to meet the growing demand in the construction sector.

The company, which currently has 450 core fleet drivers – both directly employed and independent contractors – are bolstering their transport work force with 30 new drivers to operate the new automatic transmission, Euro 6 compliant, eight-wheeled Renault trucks.

With more than 150 depots across the UK, Hope are welcoming applications from a variety of locations. They are especially keen to hear from people interested in working in Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, County Durham, Derbyshire, Hampshire, Herefordshire, Norfolk, North Yorkshire, West Midlands and the Central Belt of Scotland.

Successful candidates will be required to drive a HGV concrete mixer or tipper truck to deliver products to construction sites operated by Hope’s customers – from major infrastructure to housing. In line with the firm’s determination to offer top-notch service, drivers will need to be able to get on well with customers, as well as with their colleagues in production and distribution.

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the highest standards of competency and behaviour on the road, along with full regulatory compliance in areas such as safe driving techniques, operating hours and vehicle checks, and procedures designed to ensure that product quality remains high throughout to delivery process.

A competitive salary is offered along with a company pension and 25 days’ annual holiday. Successful candidates will receive training including driver CPC and further HGV courses.

Andrew Clark, HR Manager at Hope Construction Materials, said: “This is a great opportunity for someone who is after a flexible job, working for a growing firm in one of the UK’s core industries, and driving some of the latest trucks on the market.

“Delivering concrete to construction sites required a particular range of additional competencies and it is essential that applicants have a positive approach towards safety, health and wellbeing.  Customer service is paramount and as such applicants should have a positive attitude, be good communicators and willing to operate out of other sites.  It would be ideal if they are able to stay away from home, as required.”

Tom Wilson, a mixer truck driver for Hope Construction Materials, comments:  “I have worked as a driver in the business for 17 years. Working with Hope is a great partnership and I feel part of a really strong team.  Driving a mixer truck is a job I thoroughly enjoy, I love the freedom of being on the road all day and also watching the concrete I deliver being used to build and better the UK landscape. It’s a very satisfying job.”
