Goodyear enters its 11th year supporting the FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
Goodyear is continuing its support of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship: the company will be the single tyre supplier to the 10-round 2015 series. When the flag drops in April 2015 at the Valencia circuit in Spain, it will mark the 11th year that Goodyear is the truck race tyres supplier of the thrilling race series.
Goodyear truck racing tyres in size 315/70R22.5 are again the only tyres approved by the European Truck Racing Championship’s governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The Goodyear truck racing tyres that will be supplied have been specifically designed, developed and built to offer the best possible performance to the 5.4 tonne racing trucks, which race at speeds of up to 160 km/h. The supply and support for these tyres will be provided by the Truck Race Organisation (TRO), for the FIA European Truck Racing Championship at every race.
“We are delighted to be the tyre supplier of the European Truck Racing Championship now for the 11th year. Our engagement in this exceptional race series allows us to demonstrate the quality of our truck tyres in general, as our truck race tyres are built using a similar carcass base as our regular truck tyres”, said Benjamin Willot, Director Marketing Commercial Tyres at Goodyear Europe, Middle East and Africa. “It is a great platform for us to illustrate our innovative power by developing truck tyres that can operate under the challenging racing conditions.”
Truck Race Tyres and Labeling
ECE homologation is a requirement for any tyre to be approved for truck racing, but racing tyres are one of the few tyre types that are exempt from the EU tyre label regulation. However the 315/70R22.5 Goodyear truck racing tyre has a rolling resistance equal to a fuel-saving ‘B’ tyre label grade and a wet grip equivalent to an ‘A’, a grip level that few regular truck tyres are capable of achieving[1].
