Team Oliver Racing Headed to Donington Park Race Circuit

Last weekend, the 22nd and 23rd of July, Team Oliver Racing headed to Donington Park race circuit for the most recent meeting. Donington Park is considered by a great number of people to be the birthplace of Truck Racing and the circuit is the most local for Team Oliver Racing. The close proximity of this race track meant that both Stuart and Michael of Team Oliver Racing have been looking forward to racing in front of family and friends who made the trip to watch them race

At this years event, the organisers focused on making the event one that was specifically run for the truck and driver. This year’s Convoy in the Park has been hailed as one of the best truck race events to be held in Europe for a number of years.

Tent of thousands of fans and spectators attended the event which took place over the course of two days. Also at the race meeting was more than 1,200 well-presented show trucks as well as industry vehicles and equipment manufacturing displays and trade stands. Other forms of entertainment at the event included Kids fun areas and roaming entertainers as well as an all action area that included caravan smashing. The weekend had loads on offer for all of the family in between the races including a number of live performances which took place on the live entertainment main stage.

The race schedule for this weekend was very demanding as there was a very compact timetable. As a reflection of this there were 29 trucks entered into a 20 minute long qualification session held on the Saturday morning of the event. As part of this qualifier, Stuart managed to post a time that got him third place on the grid, finishing only two tenth slower that the man who managed to take pole place going into the rest of the races at the weekend. After a few disappointing races for both drivers Stuart over the course of the weekend, he managed to cross the line of the last race in second place. Michael managed to earn his second championship career podium finish by coming third in the fourth race of the weekend.
