Shell Lubricants UK founds Shell Champion Distributor of the Year Awards and announces the results for 2013

November 2013: Shell Lubricants UK this week held its first Champion Distributor of the Year Awards.

The competition was open to all six Shell contracted distributors that have partnerships with Shell Lubricants UK – Hayley Group, Watson Petroleum, Silgo Lubricants, Certas Energy, Gleaner Oils and Brogan Fuels. The nominees were evaluated against a range of six critical criteria. The chosen KPIs which form the criteria focus on different aspects of the business, not just sales volume. The reason for including cross-business KPIs was to emphasise that to be successful, distributors need to work as team and that sales volume is just a part of it.

The Shell Lubricants Distributor Champion of the Year 2013 Award, announced by Patrick Romeo, Shell Lubricants General Manager, Europe West & President of Shell France, went to Brogan Fuels, part of the Certas Energy Group who are based in Scotland.

In addition, eight Special Recognition Awards for outstanding individual performance were handed out linked to the above mentioned six KPIs. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges. Representation from all six Shell contracted distributors received recognition.

Anthony Stewart, Sales Director at Brogan Fuels, said: “We’re very proud to be named Shell Lubricants Distributor Champion of the Year 2013. The team at Brogan Fuels has worked very hard.  We have been working with Shell for two years and we already have seen some impressive results. Our ambition is to become one of the largest distributors of Shell Lubricants in Scotland.”

Nadia Markey, UK Marketing Manager at Shell Indirect Lubricants, commented: “The awards demonstrate our commitment to our distributors and showcase their achievements over the last year. Our main learning is that partnership and collaboration produces great results.”

Greg Edwards, Regional Sales Manager at Certas Energy, the recipient of one of the Special Recognition Awards, stated: “We are absolutely delighted to be here today. This has been a result of a true team effort. We have been working with Shell Lubricants for nine years and the level of support and training they have provided has been outstanding. We look forward to growing our business with them and achieve even better results next year.”

Entries for next year’s contest are due to be submitted by 1 February.
