Ramage Transport Gears Up For Expansion Plans With New Fleet Investment

Newcastle-based haulage and storage company Ramage Transport Ltd, one of the North East’s premier haulage companies, today announced a new partnership with Barclays as they gear up for continued growth.

Ramage Transport Ltd, established in Newcastle over 35 years ago, provides refined and efficient logistics solutions for clients across the UK and Europe. With a fleet consisting of more than 80 vehicles and 100 trailers, Ramage fulfil supply chain requirements 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Robin Ramage, Operations Director of Ramage Transport Ltd said: “Barclays funding underpins our growth plans and we’ve been able to add a further ten new tractor units together with an additional seven trailers.  The fire at our premises last year was a tough time for the business and our storage premises are still being re-built – but it’s great that we can focus on the future with this new investment which will see the fleet operate more efficiently and with the capability to meet increased customer demand.”

Ramage Transport employs 130 people locally and turnover is anticipated to reach £10 million this year with the increased business the new funding will generate.

Peter Kirkpatrick, Barclays Relationship Director commented: “This new funding has been provided through the Government-backed ‘Funding for Lending Scheme’ and will allow Robin and his team to take advantage of the opportunities arising from the increased business they’ve been experiencing. This deal serves as a clear indication that Barclays is open for business for quality transactions in well managed companies.”
