Michelin Launches Apps to Improve Haulier's Admin

Michelin solutions has announced that they have launched four innovative digital services for the road transport industry designed in order to maximise efficiency by making more laborious tasks easier by incentivising staff. The tyre manufacturer has launched a suite of apps including MyInspection, MyTraining, MyRoadChallenge and MyBestRoute which have been designed to spur on drivers, driver trainers and engineering staff to reach higher levels of performance, reduce operating costs and simplify everyday inspection duties.

The Commercial Director for Michelin solutions, Phil Davey has said that the company have been looking for a while now find solutions that lay outside of tyres. The development of this whole suite of services is the latest and most exciting offer to be brought to market by the company. It is thought that the new solutions that are offered by these services will completely transform the way in which hauliers and own-account fleets operate.

One of the apps, MyInspection covers the daily vehicle inspections that would normally be taken with a pen and paper. These checks can be made in darkness or in wet weather conditions and with the help of a simple app, they will no longer be the bane of the truck driver’s career. The software that has been included in the MyInspection app makes the process quicker, smoother and more effective at reporting problems.

The smartphone app works to take the driver step by step through the inspection of their vehicle, allowing them to work their way through the list of different checkpoints which have been defined by the fleet engineer for each vehicle type. The app can then be used to report any anomalies and the maintenance workshop can be automatically notified with the help of a photo, leading to the quick repair of any issues.

MyRoadChallenge is an incentive for truck drivers. The app analyses the quality of their driving through acceleration and deceleration which is detected by the GPS that is activated in the driver’s smartphone, offering points that can then be converted into Amazon gift vouchers.
