Menzies wins five-year deal with Weber

Menzies Distribution has won a five-year contract with Weber, the UK arm of building materials giant Saint-Gobain. Menzies began managing the company’s UK deliveries, including pallets and full loads, from its manufacturing sites to domestic customers at the beginning of this year.

“This is a huge achievement and an important contract with a global leader in building products. Menzies was awarded the contract at the end of a tender, so being successful is testament to our ability to create a competitive and compelling solution. Our team has worked diligently with Weber over the past few months to ensure that we deliver a successful start to the partnership. Now we need to deliver a consistently first-class day-to-day service, while implementing continuous improvement initiatives to underline the value that Menzies can add to an operation,” commented Andy Coxon, Business Development Director at Menzies Distribution.

Ahead of commencing operations, four Menzies team members attended the Weber Training Academy at the company’s Flitwick site in Bedfordshire, providing an opportunity to learn more about Weber products, how they are applied and their main uses. The second manufacturing site is in Telford, Shropshire.

Menzies is delivering render, tile grout and adhesive to national builders’ merchants and direct to construction sites, using an initial core fleet of seven vehicles. The fleet, which will be fitted with new technology allowing electronic proof of delivery and real-time order visibility, will be increased in line with expected peak activity over the summer months.

Additional team members have been recruited as a result of the contract, including office staff, planners and drivers.

“We are delighted to commence the long-term partnership with Menzies, presenting us with a genuine opportunity to improve services to our customers. The introduction of real-time tracking on deliveries will offer greater visibility, and the increased network coverage will allow us to offer the same service level in the Highlands as we can in the Midlands. Working with Menzies will also support our pledge to sustainability with a reduction in emissions, helping us to drive towards our mission to become carbon net zero by 2050,” concluded David Egan, Transport Manager, Saint-Gobain Weber UK & Ireland.
