MAN Sets A Precedent With DVLA Personalised Plates

Managing director of MAN Truck & Bus UK, Simon Elliott, is predicting the demand for personalised number plates on HGVs & LCVs could follow the trend in passenger cars.

The prediction comes as MAN becomes the first truck manufacturer to have a vehicle image appear on the DVLA web site so that owners can see what their chosen personalised plate could look like on an MAN TGX.

Simon said: “Number plates are a real UK phenomenon and part of our everyday life so we wanted to make it easier for our customers to further personalise their truck. I see a very high proportion of trucks with a private plate already.”

Jody Davies, DVLA personalised registration contracts manager, concurs: “Since the introduction of personalised plates in 1984, £1.3 billion has been generated for HM Treasury. They are as popular as ever with prices starting from just £250 up to tens of thousands of pounds.

“The most expensive plate was sold in November last year when ‘25 O’ sold for £518,000 knocking ‘1D’ off the top spot which sold in 2009 for £352,411.”

MAN customers considering an MAN TopUsed truck can now select a number plate of their choice up to the value of £250, which could for example feature their company’s initials or even the model.

Customers are encouraged to visit the DVLA web site to search available plates and see what it could look like on an MAN truck.

For further information log on to DVLA web site – http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/, choose a number plate and click the vehicle icon to see it on an MAN truck.
