Harlequin’s New Contract Is Not To Be Sneezed At

Haulier collaboration Harlequin Logistics has extended its customer base through the award of a long-term contract from Kimberly Clark.

This prestigious win, announced as the UK haulage specialist passed the third anniversary of its launch, extended its ever-growing business base into a new sector, and boosted its position as a viable competitor to the industry’s big names.

The global tissue manufacturer has handed Harlequin responsibility for deliveries from Chorley and Northfleet to much of its customer base in the Midlands and Southern England. This includes a wide range of retailer Regional Distribution Centre’s plus wholesale and cash and carry outlets.

Harlequin, which is part-owned by five prominent private hauliers, sub-contracts on a very limited basis, and MD Paul Smith is convinced that this asset-based approach was a vital component in this new business award.

He said: “Kimberly-Clark’s products require high-cube kit, so their operation is ideally suited to our approach. Our network includes upwards of 1200 three metre internal-height trailers, located across ten of our 16 depots, so we are able to offer them a very flexible solution.

“They are a fantastic customer to work for, and we are really happy that they have given us this opportunity to demonstrate the merits of our business model.”

Kimberly-Clark’s customer base includes UK large retailers, and as a consequence when appointing Harlequin, UK’s Transport Manager Emma Atkins was very mindful that service levels were of paramount importance.

She said: “Our customers set high performance standards for all their suppliers, regardless of how well-known their brands are.  We are no different in this respect, and I am pleased to say that Harlequin has proved a capable ally on this front.

“Based on their good performance levels, we have already extended the original volume award, and look forward to developing our service partnership.”
