Goodyear has announced that they have just signed a deal that will see them become both the sponsor and the tyre supplier of the British Truck Racing Championship. The tyre manufacturer has announced
that they have signed a three-year deal to be the sponsor of the championship. Goodyear will be
working to deliver high performance tyres that are required for the Championship.
It is thought that the tyres are one of the key components of a racing championship Goodyear has been
using emerging technologies and innovations in order to ensure that the Truck Racers will be using the
tyres that will give them the best performance possible. Goodyear has a reputation for being innovative
and has in the past worked with Volvo in order to create bespoke tyres for The Iron Knight, a truck that
has been specially designed and which has gone on to break two land speed records.
Because of how well The Iron Knight did during their record attempts the tyre producer thought that
they would use their knowledge of high speed trucks in order to expand in to the truck racing sector.
Being the sponsor and supplier for the British Truck Racing Championship will also promote the business
name to those that are fans of truck racing and may work in the transport sector. Therefore, the three-
year sponsorship deal could be more lucrative for the tyre manufacturer.
The process of creating the correct tyres for truck racing started 13 years ago as Goodyear were made a
title sponsor of the European Truck Racing Championship. Because of the demands of truck racing the
tyre manufacturer knew that they needed to design a tyre that would suit the conditions of truck racing
and meet the demands of high speeds and different conditions better than a normal transport tyre would.
