FTA Driver of the Year Award 2017

FTA Driver of the Year Award 2017

The Freight Transport Association Driver of the Year 2017 is set to be announced at the Association’s Transport Manager Conference. This event will be taking place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on the 29th November.

The Transport Manager Conference series set up by the Freight Transport Association is sponsored by the truck manufacturer IVECO and has also been supported by Brigade Electronics, Goodyear Tyres and Microlise. The conference tours the UK in between September and November and helps to give transport managers and those in charge or road transport fleet the chance to hear from key industry speakers as well as industry experts about the different issues that are having an impact on their operation.

The conference in Coventry will cover these discussion topics while also revealing the results of the trade association’s hard work to find the best commercial driver in the country. The presentation for the overall FTA Driver of the Year 2017 will be given at this event by the Chief Executive of the FTA, David Wells. The competition for this title is intense and has been sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Vans UK Ltd, Bridgestone and Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

After a comprehensive selection process, there are three finalists for the FTA Driver of the Year. The Van Excellence Driver of the Year Steve Mumford from BT Supply Chain, Craig Stewart of Clarke International, and Thomas Kent from Sammworth Brothers Supply Chain. These three are in contention for the top prize after winning their individual category competition earlier in the year.

This year the Transport Manager conference series has broken attendance records so far, with more operators that ever throughout the country making the most of the opportunity to hear from top level speakers on a number of key issues such as compliance and business management which can affect those in the transport and logistics industries.
