Downton Buys 180 New Cartwright Trailers To Meet Growing Business Needs

Leading independent haulier C M Downton Ltd has ordered 180 new trailers from Cheshire-based Cartwright Group to support its growing requirements for new and existing contracts.

Already in 2013, the Gloucestershire based logistics firm has secured a number of new business wins and expanded contracts which require an increasingly diverse fleet of trailers. The 180-strong reinforcement fleet consists of double-deck and hydraulic deck trailers, including longer-length and aerodynamic versions.

Rob Emery, Director, C M Downton Ltd, said: “We’re increasingly requiring larger and more flexible fleets to meet customers’ needs, and help them to respond to what remains a fluid and complex marketplace.

“We’ve had a good 2013 so far, with some significant wins in the first quarter,” adds Rob, “and these trailers will help to ensure we have the capacity and flexibility to meet these increased demands.”

The trailers join a fleet of more than 1,200 trailers and 500 vehicles spread across Downton’s national network of depots.

The new Cartwright trailers are designed especially for Downton.
