A member of Palletways UK’s express palletised freight network, Darcica Logistics is a leading provider of sustainable delivery and fulfilment solutions across both Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Supporting pallet collection and deliveries, same-day and next-day courier solutions, plastic-free fulfilment, secure storage, stock management, and event logistics, the firm has become recognised as a rising star in the industry, pairing clear sustainability commitments with strong service and efficiency led values. We’ll take a closer look.
Taking a glance at Darcica Logistics’ current operations, the firm maintains a diverse fleet in excess of 30 commercial vehicles, including a combination of 3.5tn vans, 44tn tractor units, and HGVs, backed up by an operational network of 40 skilled employees, 47,000 sqft warehouses, and prominent supply chain partners. Of the fleet, 30% is currently composed of EVs, including 1x 18tn EV DAF truck, 4x Maxus EV vans, 1x Maxus 3.5tn EV curtainsider, and a wholly-electric company car fleet, thus demonstrating a severe commitment to carbon mitigation.
Darcica Logistics’ decarbonisation journey dates back to 2022 with the introduction of one of the UK’s first Maxus EV pallet delivery vehicles, swiftly followed by trials across a range of EV alternatives from different manufacturers, before eventually settling on DAF’s offering as the most suitable for its HGV fleet. Following this decision, the firm has put in place a strategic growth plan which includes the addition of three new EV trucks, including 1x 44tn DAF XD 350 FT and 1x 18tn DAF 190FA with Brian Currie, and a diesel-to-electric conversion with Wrightbus.
Offering further insight into the firm’s sustainability ambitions and the progress made thus far, Melanie Tattersall, Owner of Darcica Logistics shared:
“Our Sustainable Action Plan evaluates environmental, social, governance, and economic impacts, sets improvement goals, and tracks progress. In 2024, we joined the SME Climate Hub, committing to annual carbon reporting and transparency. We also produce yearly impact and CO₂ reports for aligned pallet customers and are part of the local B-Corp movement (having submitted our B Impact Assessment and currently in the verification stage).
“We introduced the UK’s first 3.5T curtain-sided electric pallet delivery vehicle in Oxfordshire and have increased zero-emission deliveries by over 15% year on year, (saving over 120t CO₂e to date) and our decarbonisation plan sets out a clear road map to net zero. We hold monthly Tool Box Talks (TBT’s) focused on sustainable driving practices and emission reduction.
“Sustainability isn’t just about reducing carbon emissions, we champion equality, diversity, and inclusion in an industry that must evolve.”
Going forward, Darcica Logistics has ambitious growth plans for the business as supported by its new depot and an astounding 120% growth in turnover over the last three years. Key areas of emphasis will be around expanding pallet collection and delivery operations, with sustainability and growth within e-commerce fulfilment and storage distribution services. These ambitions run alongside continued efforts to drive down the firm’s carbon footprint and invest into modern technologies as a means of driving efficiencies further.
As a key supplier to Darcica Logistics, it has been a pleasure to witness the growth of Darcica Logistics as they have expanded over the last few years. It is testimony to their sustainable model that sets them apart from the competition and been a huge driver in their success. Harnessing the transition to electric transport has been a benefit rather than a hindrance to this business. Listening to the teams talk enthusiastically and embrace change it is clear that Anthony and Melanie have taken the whole team with them in this culture shift towards an inclusive and sustainable low carbon business, all set for the future. Partnerships are more vital than ever before and the team here at Brian Currie are proud to support Darcica Logistics as they show how SME’s can be successful and it’s not just the PLC’s that can afford to be “green”.
