Construct IT Are the New Kids on the (Building) Block

BJS have an enviable reputation in home delivery and haulage (recently ranked 22 in this year’s Sunday Times Track International 200) and are delighted to announce the launch of Construct IT, bringing their bold branding and expertise to the building sector. Of course, the neon colour pallet does more than look good and makes the vehicles highly visible for all the right health and safety reasons.

The bespoke fleet prioritises performance, efficiency and DVS compliance and is therefore able to deliver peace of mind in addition to product with every booking.

Construct IT offer added reassurance as standard with multiple lenses from ICanProve.IT which connect to an on-board cloud-connected camera system. The professionally fitted ICanProve.IT lenses are tamper-proof and rugged – with no external equipment to be knocked or blocked, and no visible recording equipment to be damaged or stolen.

With ICanProveIT there is no incident that happens in, on or around the vehicles – either while driving or stationary, that will not be captured on camera. The vehicles can continue recording and providing a feed, with the vehicle switched off, for up to 3 hours. Company operatives have the reassurance of knowing that no-one can make a false claim against them as their high standards will be captured and available as evidence if needed.

The Construct IT head office can also access footage from any lens as a live feed – streaming into their browser – meaning that no Construct IT operative is ever truly on their own if faced with a difficult situation in the field. They can contact their manager, review the difficulty together, and decide on the best course of action. The recording equipment is always on, with 28-days-worth of footage kept on-board and five-years secure storage for downloaded files.

Transport for London introduces the Direct Vision Standard and safety permit for HGVs this March, measuring how much an HGV driver can see in and around their vehicle to indicate the level of risk to vulnerable road users – such as people walking and cycling near the vehicle. The DVS and HGV safety permit for HGVs is part of the Mayor of London’s Vision Zero plan to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on London’s transport network by 2041.

The Construct IT fleet are fitted with the following The Vehicle Group equipment:

  • Camera and monitor systems
  • Close proximity sensors and driver audible alerts
  • Turning and manoeuvring speaker system
  • Visual warning decals

The 25 Renault trucks may be big and bold, but every attention has been paid to small details to maximise the useability and accessibility of each vehicle. Five of the Construct IT fleet have Closed Extender adjustable trailers, which have been designed in conjunction with Atlas Cranes & Dennison Trailers – which can be mechanically reduced in length to allow drivers into sites with restricted access. A further five drawbars have been built by Massey Truck Engineering – which can be split in half; great in limited space when two smaller loads are more suitable than one large load.

Operations Director Amarat Gill and Sales Director David McWilliams look forward to bringing their extensive experience to this exciting new brand and lifting and loading the nation’s building materials.
