University Recognised As Academic Partner By The Chartered Institute Of Logistics And Transport
Students from the University of Lincoln will benefit from access to one of the most comprehensive sources of logistics, supply chain and transport information in the world thanks to a new partnership with the industry’s flagship professional body.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has awarded Academic Partner status to the University of Lincoln, making it one of just three higher education institutions in the UK to partner with the global logistics membership institute.
The CILT has a presence in more than 30 countries across the world and the new partnership will provide students with access to the international CILT Knowledge Centre, Europe’s largest specialist library of transport and logistics publications, periodicals and research papers. Other benefits also include access to national events, new opportunities to publish academic papers and the support of a CILT Regional Officer.
The partnership follows the CILT accreditation of Lincoln’s undergraduate and postgraduate Logistics Management programmes and the Defence Logistics Staff Course (DLSC).
The DLSC is a distinctive programme through which Lincoln Business School delivers postgraduate courses in Logistics Management for military and civilian personnel from across the Ministry of Defence, as well as members of the international military community. Earlier this year, the University of Lincoln secured a new contract with the Ministry of Defence to continue the programme for the next five years.
The CILT Academic Partnership was awarded to the University of Lincoln in recognition of its ability to meet the educational needs of the highly specialised logistics sector.
Steve Agg, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, visited the University of Lincoln to present an official Academic Partnership plaque on the same day that a new cohort of military personnel was enrolled onto the DLSC.
Speaking at the presentation, Mr Agg said: “We are pleased to confirm our Academic Partnership with the University of Lincoln. The Logistics programmes offered by Lincoln Business School require an extremely high level of capability and a great deal of organisation, and it is important to recognise the remarkable work being done. High-level logistics courses like those taught here in Lincoln are vital for ensuring that the industry continues to meet the needs of society.”
