TruckEast Restructure With New Vehicle Sales Director

TruckEast Ltd. has announced the appointment of their new Sales Director, Harley Coulson, who will be responsible for sales team leadership and will be a valuable contributor to uniting ongoing Sales and Aftersales efforts. The existing Sales Director, David Hall, will remain at TruckEast as Board Director, following 19 years in the position.

David started his career in the commercial vehicle industry following a move to Peter Brown DAF in April 1984. After 3 years in the job, he transferred to Gerald White Group MAN VW for a further 2 years. In 1989 David moved to Derek Jones Commercials Ltd., one of the two founding companies which later formed TruckEast, starting out as a New Truck Sales Executive and progressing to Sales Manager in 1992. In 1995, he progressed to Sales Director and became a member of the Board with responsibility for 4 Regional Sales Managers, Sales Administration and Driver Training. In addition to his dealer activities, he has been an integral member of the Scania (Great Britain) Ltd. Sales and Product Committee dealing with technical and legislative issues, continuing in this position when TruckEast was founded in 2006.

David remains a Board Director, continuing to work with a number of key accounts and focusing on niche market activities. Although not part of his working role, he is active within the Northamptonshire Transport Engineering Group, a committee of five who raise money within the transport industry for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

Harley Coulson started his career in the HGV industry at the age of 11, with a Saturday morning job in his family business. He completed an apprenticeship at K&M Vehicle Repairs, a past Scania Franchise in King’s Lynn.

In 1997, K&M Vehicle Repairs acquired Ro-Truck. Following this, he was promoted to King’s Lynn Depot Manager, a position which he held for 7 years. In 2006, following the formation of TruckEast Ltd. from Ro-Truck and Derek Jones Commercials, he became responsible for depots located in King’s Lynn, Ely and Peterborough, and in October 2011, following a restructuring of the business, became Regional General Manager for his existing depots, with the addition of TruckEast Corby.

With over 17 years managerial experience, and the technical knowledge to support his role, Harley is now Sales Director and will split his time between the East and West of the TruckEast region. Harley hopes to continue David’s work and take the opportunity to capitalize on and develop further the current efforts of the sales department. With 851 new Scania vehicles sold by TruckEast across the Eastern Counties in 2013, and around 180 all-makes used vehicles sold, the department has gone from strength to strength. Sales included contributions to the haulage, emergency services and municipal sectors, as well as the construction sector, supplying mixers, tippers, and specialist vehicles.

John Biggin, M.D. at TruckEast Ltd. added, ‘I am delighted that we have been able to fill this position internally and also that we will continue to have David’s valuable input for many years to come. I have no doubt that the new sales department will continue its path of growth and success in the coming years under Harley’s leadership.’

Mark Cox, formerly Depot Manager of TruckEast King’s Lynn, will now take over Harley’s role as Regional General Manager for King’s Lynn, Ely and Peterborough, whilst TruckEast Corby now falls under the Northamptonshire region managed by Gary Trainor.
