TerraClean, which is part of Randstad Ltd, held a series of one-day training courses on the growing opportunities of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) in more than 100 garages. The sessions were hosted by the TerraClean specialist Gary Wood, and aimed to give assistance to independent garages on the effective diagnosis of DPF/EGR related problems and how to use the TerraClean products to solve them.
The training took place in six locations across the UK – Bristol/Bath, Gatwick, Milton Keynes, Derbyshire, Stirling, and North Yorkshire.

“The one-day course is designed to help garages understand the fundamental principle and workings of the DPF, while helping them effectively understand, diagnose and rectify faults with DPF systems fitted to modern diesel vehicles. When a DPF blocks, this usually points to an underlying cause; this course will outline the main reasons for this and help troubleshoot the problem,” said Gary Wood.
TerraClean is one of the leaders when it comes to solving DPF related problems for motorists and independent garages and dealerships. An accurate DPF diagnosis and rectification is essential and the company has developed a network of about 500 Official Service Centres to help with these problems.
“DPF diagnosis and fault rectification are huge opportunities for garages to take advantage of. I, like many other garages and technicians, have become the “go-to” experts for DPF related problems,” commented Gary.
Usually, DPF removal is not considered the best practice because it puts a vehicle that doesn’t conform to current MOT requirements on the road. Many garages stay away from it because of a lack of understanding, which is a major issue throughout the motor trade.
These training sessions, however, “act as a great educational tool on TerraClean equipment, as well as present an ideal opportunity to raise any questions or concerns to the TerraClean experts”, said Philip Dowd, the company’s sales director.
