Peterson Announces New Director-Level Appointments

Global logistics provider, Peterson, today (1 April, 2014) announces two director-level appointments as part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen its management team focused on North Sea operations.

Jim McSporran has been appointed as Director of Operations and alongside co-directors Jan Schipper and Ron Van Der Laan, will be responsible for delivering a framework for operational growth within its North Sea businesses.

The second appointment is John Bain, who joins Peterson as Director of Finance. He has significant experience in the logistics sector, having spent many years in a similar role with ARR Craib Transport.

The appointments come following a restructuring last year in which Peterson’s UK and Dutch operations were merged. Mike Porter, former Managing Director of Peterson SBS, became Chief Operating Officer for Peterson.

Mr Porter comments, “I am delighted to welcome the new directors to our team. Their significant experience will be hugely beneficial to us as we extend our range of services in the North Sea and internationally, and they will provide a seamless and consistent approach to our client’s requirements wherever we serve them.

“Creating a single management team for all of our group activities has allowed us to offer a comprehensive logistics service to our clients and co-ordinate our business approach. The combined experience of running our highly successful North Sea businesses has provided us with knowledge capable of being applied to other oil and gas regions and we must capitalise on this.”

Established in the offshore logistics sector over 40 years ago, Peterson has expanded throughout the UK and Netherlands with facilities at a number of prominent ports.  In 2008, Peterson SBS was incorporated into the Dutch logistics group Peterson Control Union, a global organisation in the field of inspection, quality management and logistics. Peterson employs over 450 people in the UK, across its bases in Aberdeen, Shetland, Heysham, Edzell and Great Yarmouth.
