Haulage firm D&D Transport has started a rapid £1m expansion programme by investing £160,000 in new vehicles.
The family-run Langley Mill company has also recruited six new staff, with another four to be hired in 2017, while the team will move to a larger site nearby next month to enable further growth.
The new three-acre site will be able to accommodate 10 trailers alongside the two new T trucks it has bought from Nottingham-based Renault dealer RH Commercial Vehicles (RHVC).
D&D Transport currently has a fleet of 25 lorries – of which 23 are Renault vehicles – and the company has plans to purchase another specialist truck next year with a 50-tonne crane attached.
Dave Palmer, managing director at D&D Transport, said: “We are currently undergoing an excellent year of growth at D&D and, as a result, we need to ensure we are investing wisely in our ongoing expansion and development.
“We have increased our fleet and will be moving from our half-acre premises to a three-acre site next year, to allow for expansion and to secure the future growth of the business.
“The purchase of our two-new top of the range trucks from RHCV is our first investment in vehicles since 2014 and will ensure that we are offering our growing customer base a reliable and dedicated service across the country.”
The D&D order caps a successful year for Lenton Lane-based RHCV, which has reported a steady increase in firms wanting to invest in buying or renting trucks and commercial vehicles.
Commercial director Paul Pearson added: “We are delighted to have worked with D&D Transport to help it significantly expand its service offering and we are looking forward to working with the company for many years to come.”
