FTA’S 2014 Transport Manager Conference Proving Popular

“Would-be delegates planning to attend the FTA Transport Manager 2014 will need to book soon as places are proving popular,” is the message from the FTA today.  With over 600 attendees already booked onto the conference series which tours the UK this autumn, delegate places will soon be in short supply.

The annual FTA conference provides transport managers with the latest information regarding key legislation, and attendees will hear first-hand from industry experts to ensure they are up-to date with issues and developments.

Goodyear and Volvo Trucks are to repeat their sponsorship of Transport Manager this year – in fact Goodyear will be returning for the fourth consecutive year. Volvo’s presentation on Trucks of the Future will cover new EU regulations aimed at improving the environmental and safety performance of lorries and the impact this will have on the way lorries are designed and used.

Goodyear will be presenting alongside FTA on the new Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness, covering the key changes transport managers must be aware of and how it will affect operators.

Both Volvo and Goodyear as sponsors will be running a prize draw at each of the Transport Manager Conferences which will offer delegates the opportunity to win some fantastic merchandise.

Volvo Trucks’ Marketing & PR Director Amanda Hiatt said:

“Together with safety and quality, care for the environment is at the core of Volvo Trucks’ values. As a global company, we work with legislators, customers and drivers to design and deliver products that reflect society’s transport requirements, today and in the future.  Our recently launched Truck of the Future 2050 design competition is an example of one of the ways in which we are engaging with the wider population to involve and identify the potential truck designers of the future.  We are also very pleased to have this opportunity to be so closely involved with FTA members in presenting Volvo Trucks’ view on how new EU regulations will potentially impact on future truck design and use.”

Goodyear’s Crispin Tuner, Commercial Product Marketing Manager added:

“It’s great to be back sponsoring the FTA Transport Manager series for an incredible fourth year in a row. The synergy between Goodyear and the FTA is the main reason for the long-standing relationship, the challenges we both face are very similar to those of FTA members including the need to increase tyre performance, extend tyre life and reduce environmental impact. For this year’s series, Goodyear will be providing an insight in to the critical role tyres play in a trucks roadworthiness and how tyre choice, tyre pressures and good vehicle maintenance can have a positive impact on a fleet’s bottom line.”

The 2014 conference series will include the following sessions:

Industry update by the Traffic Commissioner
DVSA enforcement priorities
Understanding the new Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness (FTA/Goodyear)
Factors influencing future truck design and use (Volvo)
Tackling the driver shortage
The FTA Transport Manager interactive quiz
Road network contingency planning
The FTA Transport Manager Calendar 2014-15
The cost for FTA members is £295 plus VAT for the first delegate and £265 plus VAT for subsequent delegates; for non-members £395 plus VAT for the first delegate and £365 plus VAT for subsequent delegates.
